A monorail can be suspended from the ceiling or a free-standing structure to extend the rail system over any distance. This frees up valuable floor space for other production applications.

Switches, pick-up/drop stations, rotating crossings and turntables make it possible to redirect the monorail trolley onto off-shoots along the main track, extending the area serviced by the monorail without requiring unnecessary travel through every section for each trip. This also makes it easier to incorporate new track-lines with minimal modification to the existing set-up when expanding or including new production lines.

Adjacent suspension cranes or monorails can be coupled to the monorail with a latching device, permitting the hoist trolley to transfer from one system to another while continuing to carry the load. Connecting the different systems in this manner allows the trolley to convey the load through the work area without being set down, improving the production line's ability to convey, distribute and collect material from all sections of the work place at a consistent pace.

The monorail can be manually controlled, computer controlled or fully automated to connect to other automated operation systems in the work place.
